Violet Portal to Madeira
Three colours, set one inside another: a wide white border, a black field, and a tall violet panel rising from its lower edge.
The black closes over the panel like an arch, so it reads as a portal: an opening into another space, or a column of light. Where it leads is left to the viewer.
The work is built in layers. The white border is the first one, left bare at the edges; over it lies a field of black enamel. The violet pearl goes on last: the colour is created with high-quality Italian pigments that hold it well over time.
The pearl is laid in fine vertical strokes: up close they read as stripes, from across the room as one even colour. Seen straight on, the violet is soft; when the light comes from the side, it brightens.
The edges are hard and the proportions strict: a frame within a frame, nothing blended. This ties the work to hard-edge painting, where flat shapes and clean borders build depth without perspective.
From the same series: Pearl Yellow over Sienna and Pearl Turquoise over Black, each built on one pearlescent colour over a contrasting base.

Size and placement
At 120 × 120 cm, this painting can hold a large wall on its own, or hang above a sofa or sideboard around 180 cm wide.
Ready to hang
The canvas arrives stretched on a stretcher frame, ready to hang. It is sent without an outer frame, so you can hang it as it is or choose a frame later.
Care
Wipe with a soft, damp sponge, without harsh cleaning products. The paint handles daylight well, but years of strong direct sun can slightly change the colour, so a spot out of direct sunlight keeps it closest to how it looks today.
