YASH — Ballpoint Monolith
YASH is an original graffiti lettering drawing in ballpoint pen, built as a vertical stack of heavy, monolithic letters. A writer would usually stretch a word across a wall; here the letters are piled one on another and pressed into a single dense block, so the sheet reads first as mass and weight, and only then as a word.
Deep pigment marker lays down the darkest shadows and fixes the main volumes. A fine black liner sharpens the contours. Over this base, thousands of small ballpoint strokes build the surface tone by tone, until every letter has real weight and depth.
None of these media can be erased. Every line went down once and stayed, so the drawing is a record of many hours of controlled, uninterrupted work.
The work comes from graffiti writing, where letters are studied on paper long before they reach a wall. Here that study becomes graffiti art on paper in its own right: lettering treated as architecture, with mass, light and shadow.
